The first line of defense against particulates is your compressor’s inlet air filter. Many of the things we have mentioned will mess up your compressor if allowed to continually get in.

Most compressor inlet filters will be between 1 and 25 microns. The manufacturer will put on the air filter that they think will protect the compressor. Make sure you check in often and keep it clean.
